Having a model which is far away from the internal origin that could cause graphic or other problems in navigation and display.
Symptoms:
1. In the optimal view, the floor plan is not visible in the floor plan window
Reason: some elements on the floor plan are far from the origin.
2. In axonometric view, the 3D model is only a small point
Reason: some elements are far from the rest of the model in 3D.
3. Poor texture quality in 3D view, elements cannot be selected in 3D, etc.
Reason: the model is far from the origin.
4. The image wall view results empty grey area
Reason: some elements on the floor plan are far from the origin or in perspective, the viewed point is far from the camera.
If this distance is possibly several km, calculation inaccuracy will occur. DirectX 11 uses floating point number representation. This means that it cannot be accurate in mm and more than 100 km at a time.
The following methods helps to avoid calculation inaccuracies:
1. Choose the command in the 2D view: Dimension -> Measure -> List of Elements
2. Choose the command in a 3D view: Dimension -> Measure -> List of Elements
The dialog box displays the farthest items. Here you can select and delete these items.
3. You could try moving geometry close to the origin. Move the base coordinates (0,0) to a desired place.
This command will move your whole model to the internal origin.
Location: Edit -> Move -> Relocate Project Origin
4. Check out the distance between camera and target point in Perspective settings dialog. In most cases, it is appropriate if the two points are a few meters apart.
Location: View -> Perspective View
