The navigator contains the object and material libraries, and makes it easy to manage lights, layers and objects. These are all on a separate tab, and you can switch between functions by clicking on the icons in the top bar.
Objects
The default and user imported objects in LIVE are organized in folders. Default folders and their contents cannot be deleted, only user added items can be deleted from the directory.
Continuous placement
When this function is activated, the object is placed in the project and the mouse is used to click on additional locations to place the object again. In the library, you can click and hold on the item and drag it into the project to place the selected object.
Create a new item
Direct addition from ARCHLine.XP: in ARCHLine.XP you can right-click on the selected item in the object centre to send the object to LIVE. Objects sent in this way will appear in the Imported Items folder. Items downloaded from the 3D Warehouse will also appear in the same folder.
Add directly from an external file: by clicking on the green hummingbird icon, you can use the Import function to place objects from your computer's library into the LIVE library (.skp, .obj, .fbx file formats). In the dialog that appears, you can save the object by selecting Import model into library. You also have the option to resize the object.
Export and import objects
Click on the icon in the top right corner of the dialogue to open the other options. User items in LIVE can be selected and saved to your computer by clicking on the Export button. Similarly, you can import previously exported items into LIVE by clicking on the Import button. This method makes it easy to move objects between different versions and different computers.
Move objects within the library
After selecting the object, you can click on the button to start moving or copying the item using the Cut and Copy buttons, and then click on the Paste button to finish moving or copying the item by entering the appropriate folder. When copying, the item is found in both the original folder and the new folder, when moving, the item is found only in the new folder. Only items added by the user can be copied and moved, not default library items.
Change thumbnail image
The thumbnail image of the objects can be replaced by an image of the user's choice. After selecting the item, click on the button and select Change thumbnail image. Select the desired image from the computer storage and open it. The library item will now appear with the selected image in the library.
Delete object and folder
Select the item you want to delete in the directory, then press Delete on the keyboard. A window will appear warning you that the deletion cannot be undone. After confirmation, the item is deleted from the directory. Only items added by the user can be deleted from the library, not factory objects and folders.
Materials
The collection of materials that are in LIVE by default and imported by the user are organized here in folders. Default folders and their contents cannot be deleted, only user added items can be deleted from the directory.
All instances mode
When enabled, surfaces with the same material in the project are modified uniformly by the placed material, not just the same materials on the object. This method makes it easy to modify identical materials placed on several different objects.
Continuous placement
When this feature is enabled, clicking on additional locations in the project will place the material on the surface where you clicked. Clicking and holding on the item in the library and dragging it into the project will place the selected material.
Create a new item
Custom textures: by going to the folder of the corresponding material and clicking on the icon, you can access the Create new element button to create a texture. First, you must specify whether you want to create a Texture or colourbased material or a Video based material. If you are creating a Texture or Colour based material, select the material type, then the dialog will allow you to specify both the base texture and the additional textures, and also to set their strength.
PBR textures: the downloaded PBR texture is contained in a .zip file with all its components. This .zip file does not need to be unzipped and selected one by one in the Add New Material dialog, simply drag the .zip file into LIVE. A message will be displayed after the successful import, in the Materials tab in the Imported folder you will find the PBR texture.
