With the Terrain editor, it is easy to create unique landscapes in the project, so the building can be surrounded by hills, mountains and valleys, giving an even more lifelike result. So get started editing your terrain:
Get to know the features
Try out the features first and see how each one works. It's also worth trying different diameter and intensity settings. Depending on the performance of your computer, adjust the resolution in the settings so that editing is continuous and your computer doesn't freeze while you work. If you turn on the Update terrain continuously feature, the changes to the terrain material will be spectacular, but this mode requires more resources from your computer.
Plot parameters
Before editing the terrain, make sure you know the shape and appearance of the building and where the plot is located. A site visit is a good way to map the area around the plot, but using online maps can also help.
Primary landform
If you know what shapes you need to create, first set the diameter and intensity of the editor to a high value so you can quickly and easily create the desired shape. This shape doesn't have to be perfect, the point is to create a mass of surrounding natural elements. To do this, use the landscaping and ramp features.
Terrain refinement
Once you have the broad outline shape of the hills, mountains and valleys, you can start to develop and refine the details. Depending on the size of the area, adjust the diameter and intensity of the editor to a smaller value and then start to shape the final terrain. This is best done using the flatten, smooth and noise functions.
Correcting errors
Editing steps in the terrain can be undone, so accidental changes and changes that went wrong can be easily undone. If you change your mind, clicking the forward button on the toolbar will bring up your previously undone edit again. If the terrain has become too high or too low, you can easily resize it, in which case you should select the opposite editing mode in the dialog when you select Direction.
Resetting the terrain
If the terrain you have created, or part of it, has become unsuitable, or if you want to start editing the terrain from scratch, you can easily reset the surface to 0 m. Select the Flatten function, set the Diameter and Intensity to the highest values and turn off the Automatic flatten height, and set the height to 0 m. This way, you can create the original surface around the building in the blink of an eye.
