Decals make it easy to display different materials on the same surface. There is no need to edit the material, simply specify the basic texture of the surface, and then by placing a decal you can display different patterns or materials on the same surface. In practice, this means the following:

• you can create an autumnal atmosphere with leaves in the grassy garden,
• posters on the wall,
• put puddles on the paving,
• put manholes on the roads,
• imitate stained glass,
• rubber surfacing of playgrounds can be covered with different colored patterns.

The use of decals is limited only by your imagination. Ready-to-use decals are available in LIVE, and you can also create your own custom decals.

Ready-to-use decals

In the LIVE material library you will find ready-made decals that you just need to place in your project. These materials can be resized, rotated and placed in the quantities you need.

Custom decals

You can place decals from the library that does not yet have a texture assigned. Create or download a texture that contains the desired pattern, then save it to your LIVE library. A sticker icon will appear in the top right corner of the materials that can be placed as decals. From the library, you can drag the texture directly onto the decal surface. The advantage of decals is that they don't have to fill the whole surface, so they can take any shape you like, and it's OK if the pattern has transparent parts.
