NATIVE POINT CLOUD FORMAT (*.APC)
ARCHLine.XP 2026 introduces a new native point cloud format (*.apc) that enables fast saving and reloading of processed point clouds.
After optimization operations such as decimation, area cropping, or deleting unnecessary regions, the reduced point cloud can be saved directly to disk in the optimized format.
The *.apc format provides significantly faster loading times, improving the handling of large point cloud projects while reducing memory usage and project opening time.
Once you have selected the point cloud file ARCHLine.XP will process it and place it one of the following ways:
1. Default: ARCHLine.XP places the center of the point cloud bounding box at the global origin.
2. Use Geolocation: ARCHLine.XP places the point cloud using its real-world geographic location.
Where can it be set?
Options - Item Settings - Point cloud
For .rcp import, the dialog box that appears will display the multiple .rcs files available in the support folder. You can choose which one you want to import.
Linked Workflow
Point Clouds are linked externally,
Linked Workflow Advantages
- smaller project files,
- easier dataset updates,
- reduced project size.
Common Import Problems
Import Is Slow
Possible causes:
- extremely large datasets,
- insufficient RAM,
- or excessive point density.
Recommended solutions:
- use SSD storage,
- reduce dataset size,
Point Cloud Appears Far from the Model
Possible cause:
- incorrect coordinate system handling.
Recommended solution:
- verify survey coordinates,
- use local coordinate alignment if necessary.
Missing Color Information
Possible causes:
- unsupported RGB data,
- incomplete export settings,
- or scan conversion problems.
Recommended solution:
- verify source export settings,
- use E57 when possible.
