Section and Elevation view modes

Section and Elevation views can be created in two ways: raster graphic image and vector drawing. Raster graphics are more efficient and versatile, but vector drawing is more accurate.

Section view can include dimensions, callouts, Level annotation lines, tags, and gridlines among other 2D elements.

How are raster image and vector drawing different?

• Raster Image - for speed
  Raster images are ideal for speeding up the design process and producing informative multi-colored views. The raster image section is completed in seconds. The creation of Section and Elevation views  is quicker with raster image representation and can be customized so that users can determine how the visual style looks like from hidden line to X-Ray and Consistent color representation. The size and quality of the raster image depends on the image resolution. The higher the resolution (pixels), the better the quality. The downside is that raster images cannot be scaled to a larger physical size. When you zoom in, the quality may deteriorate and the image may be more blurred as each pixel becomes larger. Raster images cannot be edited like vector drawings, therefore it is recommended to prepare work documentation primarily during planning.
• Vector drawing - for accuracy
  A vector view is created by geometric primitives such as polygons, lines, curves and filled areas. Vector drawings retain their appearance regardless of the zoom amount. They can be scaled infinitely. Vector drawings can be edited freely. The downside is the calculation time that is significantly slower than creating raster images. For this reason vector drawings are recommended for producing final documentation.

How to visualize them?
Section and Elevation views are listed in the Project Navigator. To open the section view, right-click the section header and select Create / Refresh command. The refresh of the section and elevation views can be set to automatic or manual mode. In auto refresh mode, the view refreshes when the section line is moved or the design changes. To complete the document you can add 2D lines, hatches and dimensions. Any 2D lines or hatches remain in the section view and do not reflect 3D changes.
