Rule-based filters

Filters are controllers that can be used for many purposes. Rule-based filters can display selected elements of a model in several ways: with graphic override, with selection to modify the elements, or by coloring only the elements that match the current filter rule. You can select or visualize with graphic override the result of any rule filter.

Location: Edit > Select > By properties

The Property Selection command is used to populate the filter criteria individually when the program loads the dialog with the properties of the selected item. For example, you can filter elements with unique BIM parameters in the model.

Delete filters

To remove all associated filter of a view please use the Edit > Select > Clear Filter command.

Clear Filter allows you to restore elements with original graphic representation.

Example 1: Select all items on a layer named Wall or Slab.

Use the Edit > Select > Filter command.

1. On the left side of the dialog, select All Types.
2. The Layer row in the Name list must be placed in the list of conditions on the right side of the dialog pressing the -> button.
3. In the Value field, select the Wall - Load-bearing wall layer name to complete the first condition.
4. Repeating the same and choosing the Slab01 layer name completes the second condition.
5. Activate the "At least one filter condition must be true" option at the bottom of the dialog.
6. Click OK.

After pressing the OK button, the program will select all the elements that are on the layer named "Wall - Load-bearing wall" or "Slab01".

Example 2: Display all walls with graphics overrides in red that is larger than a given thickness.

Use the Edit > Select > Graphic Overrides command.

1. On the left side of the dialog select Architectural Elements - Wall.
2. In the middle Group list, select General Properties.
3. From the Name list, select Total Thickness  and press the -> key to add to the list of conditions.
4. Enter the minimum value (400mm) in the Value field.
5. From the operators, select the operator "At least".
6. Click the Graphical Override field in the Filters list to set override parameters, including color.
7. Click OK.

After pressing the OK button, the program will select all walls that are equal to or greater than the specified value and will display with red color as specified in this example.
