Example Goal
A simple 3 × 3 glass grid façade, using steel mullions and top + bottom frames only, no left/right side frames.
1. Start the Curtain Wall Tool
In the Wall ribbon/menu, select Curtain Wall.
Place the wall in plan view or along a guideline.
2. Mullion Setup
In the Curtain Wall Properties dialog, open the Mullion section.
Choose Rectangular cross-section.
Set values:
Mullion thickness =
50 mmMullion width =
5 mmMullion material = Steel
Adjust placement:
Offset from reference =
47.5 mm(so mullions align correctly with glass).Placement relative to glass = Middle.
Now mullions will appear as thin steel divisions across the glass.
3. Panel (Glass) Setup
In the Panels section:
Glass thickness =
6 mmGlass material = Glass26 (or another glass shader).
Glass offset =
47 mmfrom reference.
Define the grid:
Equally divided glasses in horizontal =
3Equally divided glasses in vertical =
3
The wall will now be divided into 9 glass panels (3 × 3).
4. Frame Setup
In the Frame section:
Frame cross-section = Rectangular
Frame width =
50 mmFrame thickness =
100 mmFrame material = Steel
Toggle frame visibility:
✅ Top frame (ON)
✅ Bottom frame (ON)
❌ Left frame (OFF)
❌ Right frame (OFF)
Optional: enable Place mullion on left/right when frame is OFF to keep symmetry.
Now only top and bottom have perimeter frames; sides remain frameless (but mullions can appear there if needed).
5. Corner Mullion Setup (optional)
If wall turns at a corner:
Enable Corner Mullion.
Set width/thickness to
100 mm.Material = Steel.
If it’s a single façade panel, leave OFF.
6. Preview and Confirm
On the right side of the dialog, check the 3D preview window.
Click Redraw if the view doesn’t refresh automatically.
Adjust mullion spacing or frame toggles if needed.
Click OK to apply.
7. Place in Model
Insert curtain wall along the desired reference line.
Switch to 3D view to confirm grid, mullions, and frames.
Apply materials (steel, glass) for realistic rendering.
