With this command, any photo of an existing building or decorated wall can be mapped onto a wall, façade, or any flat surface. This way, you don’t need to model the detail – the photo is simply projected onto the selected surface.
By specifying the four corner points of the selected area in the photo, it can be perfectly aligned to the given surface. The selected area covers the entire surface. It is important that the ratio of the surface and the selected area in the photo match.
Typical uses:
- Interior wall decoration from a photo
- Facade decoration from a photo
We will place a photo on the living room wall that shows the original arrangement of the pictures on the wall.
Before doing so, turn off the Interior – Living Room – Furnishing layer in the 3D view so that the wall edges are visible.
- Choose Draw menu → Raster Image → Map raster images to surface.
- Specify the image file: e.g. Interior_picture_wall.png
- Click the wall surface in the 3D view.
- Click on the photo, then move the four corner points of the wall to the corresponding points on the image.
- Press Enter.
The program trims the unnecessary parts of the photo and fits it to the selected corner points.
In the picture above, it can be seen that the images have been placed too high.
Adjustment:
If the photo placement is not correct (e.g., too high), use the Adjust Raster Image command.
This allows you to modify the corner points until the result matches your needs.
Reset:
If you do not want to see the photo on the wall after all, select the original white paint from the material library, then drag it onto the wall, or use the Paint Bucket command.
