The near clipping plane is a visual setting in ARCHLine.XP that allows you to cut away geometry that is too close to the camera in the 3D view and when rendering.
The clipping plane is perpendicular to the viewpoint and the viewed point axis. The part of the scene between the plane and the camera lens becomes invisible, allowing you to take clearer, closer shots (e.g. in interior scenes such as bathrooms) without the camera image being obstructed by walls.
This is particularly useful for rendering small interior spaces where physical camera placement would otherwise be blocked
The clipping distance can be set to a precise value, allowing you to control how close the model appears to the camera.
Note: D5 Render supports the Near Clipping Plane since version 3.0. To activate or configure it, navigate to the camera settings in the right panel. It can be set separately for each scene, allowing for different, customized views.
Tip: Increasing the near clipping plane value can prevent the camera from “hanging” on walls or other objects when rendering interior views.
Important: If the clipping value is too high, parts of the model may disappear from the image.
Location: Perspective Settings > Near Clipping Plane
Example: A wall on the left disrupts the scene. The clipping plane avoids the wall with a value of 1m.
Save near clipping plane
The value set for the near clipping plane can be saved for a given view, so it does not have to be set again each time. Different clipping values can also be specified for each view, which allows for flexible working in different visualization situations.
This feature allows you to create professional renderings even in tight spaces, as the built-in rendering engine of ARCHLine.XP fully supports the use of the near clipping plane.
