ARCHLine.XP 3D helps you design accurately in the 3D view with new cursor constraints.
The arrow keys are used to constrain to the X, Y, Z axes, with the down arrow for a parallel to a plane constraint.
You can lock your movement to specific directions (Red, Green, Blue axes) or planes (On Face/Edge) using arrow keys (Up for Blue, Right for Red, Left for Green) and Down for Parallel plane).
Rules:
Hold SHIFT=Direction lock;
Arrow keys=lock/unlock to direction (Up=blue, Left=green, Right=red, Down=Parallel plane);
Hold CTRL=Lock Surface/Direction.
Key Constraint Methods:
1. Axis Locking (Arrow Keys):
Start drawing (Line, Move, etc.) and move your cursor towards an axis (Red, Green, Blue).
Press the appropriate arrow key (Right for Red, Left for Green, Up for Blue) to lock to that axis.
Press the arrow key again to unlock or switch axes.
2. Plane/Surface Locking (Shift Key):
When hovering over a face with a tool (Line, Circle, Rectangle), press and hold the Shift key to lock the tool to that face's plane as you draw.
3. Edge Locking (Shift Key):
Move the mouse an edge and hold Shift to lock the cursor to that edge's direction.
Key constraint methods are summarized in a table:
| Key | What happens |
| ↑ | Locks the drawing direction or drawing plane to the Blue axis |
| ← | Locks the drawing direction or drawing plane to the Green axis |
| → | Locks the drawing direction or drawing plane to the Red axis. A good way to remember left from right is to say “Right locks Red.” |
| ↓ | Toggle to lock the parallel/perpendicular drawing direction or drawing plane to an inferenced edge or plane. Basically, anything that turns magenta. The drawing direction will turn magenta in color as well as the edge of the face that is being inference. |
| Shift | Locks the drawing direction or drawing plane to the direction of the nearest major axis. |
| Ctrl | Locks the drawing direction or drawing plane in the direction through the point touched when pressed. |
