Railing is one of the most complex architectural element. You can control in Properties dialog how balusters and posts are arranged along a railing. The railing beginning and end point depends on which way you drew the railing.
It enables creating repeated and individual elements such as:
1 Periodically repeated elements (Primary balusters)
2 Placing posts inside primary periods (Intermediate balusters)
3 Individual panels and bars (Individual panels and bars button)
4 Newel posts as separators between primary periods (Newel post at the turn)
5 Balusters by big steps
On every pages you can use the following options:
Automatic refresh on page | With this option each modification on the Railing will be visible immediately in the preview window. |
Update |
You can update the 3D model in the preview window manually. |
Preview mode | Select from wireframe, hidden line removal, textured or no preview options. The 3D model of the Railing will be represented in the preview window according to the selection. |
Increase or decrease the height of all balusters | You can increase or decrease the height of all balusters, panels and bars, handrail at once, relatively to their defined heights. To do so, click the checkbox, enter a height value (positive or negative) in the input field and click the update button or press Enter. |
General settings
Click General settings button to set the general settings like color, layer, line type, line thickness and priority.
Representation by centerline | Use the Representation by centerline option if you want to represent the Railing by line on the floor plan. If you don’t use this option, the top view of the 3D model of Railing will be represented on the floor plan. |
Display section lengths when edit on layout |
Use this option for automatic dimensioning of the Railing on the floor plan. |
Elevation of handrail reference point from the floor or from the selected stair | You can define the elevation of Railing relative to the stair if hosted, or the path of Railing. When you place a Railing by path, the elevation is measured from the active storey. |
Distribution of balusters by stair steps |
When you place a railing on a stair, you can choose to place balusters on the stair treads. |
Overhang at start | When you place a railing on a stair, the extension of the path at the beginning of the stair. Specifies the length of the extension. |
Overhang at end | When you place a railing on a stair, the extension of the path at the end of the stair. Specifies the length of the extension. |
