You can add switches and sockets to your project with electrical accessory.
The switches and sockets can include compact ready to buy components and a wide variety of combinations of switches, sockets and other fittings (frame + mechanism).
Electric fitting properties dialog box
In the Interior menu - Properties - Electrical accessory dialog you can create, modify and save new or existing switches and sockets. It is also where you set the default electrical fitting item that will appear in the dialog box after you start the Interior - Electrical accessory - Customized items command.
Switches and sockets
On this page you can set the type of electrical fitting, which can be of two types:
Complete solution
The complete solution of the ready for use elements shall be assigned the following characteristics:
- The symbol shown on the layout
- The 3D model front view shape (profile) and material.
- Product data (Optional) - in the Save window
Fittings with complete solution design cannot be of a graded design.
The 3D model of the electrical fitting is represented by the material clamped onto the front view. In this case, the plan view symbol of the electrical fitting must be selected in the Function tab, and then its front view shape (profile) and material (frontal photo of the electrical fitting clamped onto the shape) must be defined in the Design tab.
In the case of complete solution designs, the Mechanism(s) and Frame Selection tabs shall not be used; the Function and Design tabs shall be used instead.
Dressable mounting: Plate + Gang unit(s)
In this case, the electrical assembly is a complex element, which can be specified as a combination of the switch(es) and the frame.
You can specify the function, material and shape of each electrical fitting unit on the Gang unit(s) tab and the shape and material of the frame on the Plate selection tab.
When specifying Plate + Gang unit(s), the Function and Design tabs shall not be used; instead, the Gang unit(s) and Plate tabs shall be used.
If you enter Dressable mounting: Plate + Gang unit(s), the tab will display several options:
Number of items sorted
You can include several Gang units in one external frame. You can set the number of units (up to 5) here.
You can have up to 5 (max. number of units).
If you enter 2 or more in the Number of sorted items drop-down list, you can select the Equal Gang units (Functions) option. If the checkbox is ticked, each gang unit will have the same function. If the check box is not selected, each gang unit will have its function, material and form (front view profile) defined separately.
Sort by direction
If you enter two or more in the Number of items sorted drop-down list, you can specify the sort direction (horizontal or vertical).
Offset
This value determines the distance between the units in the 3D model of the electrical accessory.
Gang unit(s)
In the Gang unit(s) tab, you can specify the function, material and shape (front view profile) of the internal units of the electrical assemblies created with the Plate + Gang unit(s) method. If there are several units with different functions, you can switch between them using the arrow buttons on the left.
Function
You can select the basic symbol (function) of the electrical assembly unit from your favourites or from the group libraries. The dimensions of the selected group can be modified.
Material
The material defined here is displayed on the selected accessory. You can select a material from your favourites or from the existing material libraries. You can download materials from the Internet or create a new material or modify the currently selected one.
Form (front profile)
The shape (frontal profile) of the inner unit is cut out of the outer frame with a specified gap.
You can select profiles from your favourites or from existing profile libraries. You can create a custom profile or edit the profile currently in use. You can save custom profiles to profile libraries. You can change the orientation of predefined profiles.
You can resize the profile by changing the Width and Height values. You can adjust the thickness of the internal gang unit of the electrical accessory by setting the Thickness value. Use Gap to set the size of the gap between the frame and the inner unit.
Plate
Use the Plate tab to specify the frame material and shape (front profile).
Material
Here you can specify the material of the frame. You can choose a material from your favourites or from the existing material libraries. You can download materials from the Internet or create a new material or modify the currently selected one.
Form (front profile)
You can enter the shape (frontal profile) of the frame here.
You can choose profiles from your favourites or from existing profile libraries. You can create a custom profile or edit the profile you are currently using. You can save custom profiles to profile directories. You can change the orientation of predefined profiles.
You can resize the profile by changing the Width and Height values. You can adjust the thickness of the frame by setting the Thickness value.
Function (for complete version)
On the Function tab, you can select the electrical accessory's floor plan symbol (function) from your favourites or from the group libraries. You can change the dimensions of the selected group.
Design
On the Design tab, you can define the material and shape (front profile) of the electrical fitting.
Material
The material specified here will be printed on all sides of the electrical assembly. You can choose material from your favourites or from existing material libraries. You can download material from the Internet or create new material or modify the currently selected material.
Form (frontal profile)
You can enter the shape (frontal profile) of the electrical fitting here.
You can choose profiles from your favourites or from existing profile libraries. You can create a custom profile or edit the profile you are currently using. You can save custom profiles to profile directories. You can change the orientation of predefined profiles.
You can resize the profile by changing the Width and Height values. You can adjust the thickness of the electrical fitting by entering a Thickness value.
General settings
Use this tab to set general properties such as line type, line thickness, color, priority, relative height.
Relative height
You can set the distance between the floor level and the centre of the selected electrical fitting.
You can choose between two options for the floor plan representation:
- Symbol: the floor plan is represented according to the 2D groups defined in the Function tab.
- Top view: the plan view is determined by the top view of the 3D model.
Symbol scale
To prevent elements from overlapping, you can change the size of the symbols displayed in the floor plan.
Symbol spacing in the floor plan
This setting is possible when there are 2 or more units in the electrical assembly (if Plate + Gang unit(s) is selected, the number of aligned elements is 2 or more). You can set the distance between the floor plan symbols of the aligned elements here.
Save as
On this tab you can save the electrical assembly you are currently editing by clicking Save as or select one of your favourites for further editing. Use the Reset button to restore the electrical accessory settings from the available templates.
Description
Use this tab to assign a custom product data to the electrical fitting. The data entered before pressing the save button will be displayed in the electrical fitting list (Excel).
Custom 2D symbols
In the floor plan, electrical fittings can be represented by their top view or by a 2D symbol. Any symbol can be chosen as the symbol for an electrical fitting, and you can add your own symbols to the existing set. To ensure a correct representation, the following rules must be followed when creating symbols: The symbol must have at least 1 reference point and the symbol must face upwards in relation to this point.
